Dr. Maryam Lustberg, MD, MPH: A Renowned Breast Cancer Expert Joins the Learn Look Locate Medical Advisory Team
We are absolutely thrilled to announce the addition of Dr. Maryam Lustberg to the Learn Look Locate Medical Advisory Team. As an esteemed breast cancer expert and dedicated advocate for patient-centered care, Dr. Lustberg’s wealth of knowledge and experience will be instrumental in helping us educate and empower individuals on crucial breast cancer topics, including breast cancer diagnosis and testing, which deserve greater awareness.
Dr. Lustberg expressed her enthusiasm to collaborate on this important mission, stating, “I’m delighted to join and engage in meaningful conversations on advancing breast cancer care through evidence-based strategies and fostering strong partnerships with patients.”
Dr. Lustberg completed her Medical Oncology fellowship and a Breast Cancer fellowship at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC). During this time, she also earned an MPH degree in clinical investigation, focusing on clinical translational research in breast cancer. In her present role, Dr. Lustberg serves as the Director of the Breast Center at Yale and Chief of Breast Medical Oncology. She is also at the helm of the Breast Disease Research Trials Program and oversees all aspects of the breast therapeutics program at Yale Cancer Center.
With extensive experience leading clinical trials across all phases, Dr. Lustberg is adept at managing a diverse trial portfolio for the Yale Breast Program. Her research is primarily aimed at identifying novel genomic predictors, as well as blood and imaging biomarkers for treatment toxicity and survivorship management. Currently, she holds the position of co-Chair of the Alliance Symptom Intervention Committee, Chair of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) Neurological Complications Committee, and is the President-Elect of MASCC. Through her research efforts, Dr. Lustberg aims to pinpoint predictive biomarkers that can prevent or mitigate treatment-related toxicity, ultimately leading to personalized cancer treatments.
