Beth

Stage 3, Ohio

“My name is Beth DeLong and I’m from central Ohio. Two years ago, at 32 years old, I was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer.”

I found a lump during a self-exam but was convinced it was a cyst. Surprise!! It was one of six tumors, as well as six lymph nodes with cancer.

A mastectomy, eight dose-dense rounds of chemo, 25 rads, bilateral DIEP flap reconstruction, and here I am, two years later, and I’m in this brave new world of survivorship.

Thanks so much to @learnlooklocate for letting me share my story! We often hear about breast density and know it can make self-exams difficult, but it was a self-exam that saved my life. I’m now all about advocating getting familiar with your body, especially if you have dense breasts! No one will know your body the way you do. ❤
