She is nationally recognized in the medical community for being a leader in innovation and technology and partnering with industry to help provide cutting edge surgical techniques to patients. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age. Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends.
