Why Dense Breasts Hide Cancer A Survivor’s Urgent Message for Women

https://learnlooklocate.com/ ❤️️ “Got a notice after their mammograms saying you have dense breasts? I did. I got it every single year and I had no idea what that meant. And in 2018 I got diagnosed with breast cancer. No family history, stage 2b and a walnut sized tumor. Yet I got normal mammograms. The note I got in the mail said extremely dense breast. Guess what?

I blew it off because I had no idea that that was a huge risk factor for breast cancer. Why you ask? Because dense breast show white on a mammogram and so does a tumor. But my gynecologist never told me this. She never sat me down and she never told me that I needed to get supplemental screening. And what is that? That’s an MRI. That’s an ultrasound that can pick up tumors much more accurately and precisely.

I got 2D mammography 2. Never got 3D. So if you have dense breasts and you’re getting 2D, you really should be getting 3D and you should be advocating for yourself to get supplemental screening. Because as that tumor is white, so is dense breasts and it makes it very difficult for a radiologist to detect a tumor. It’s like finding a snowflake in a snowstorm.”

About Learn Look Locate LLC:
Cynthia Jordan, Founder of Learn Look Locate LLC in 2018 has generated a global movement to provide critical education for the early detection of breast cancer. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age. Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends.

The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings. Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys.

There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds. Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible.

There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need.

Learn Look Locate LLC provides resources for women who want to get involved in the fight against breast cancer.
