What I want them to do is I want them to believe that there’s a perfect plan unique for their care. And devising that perfect plan really involves three separate areas that have to intersect. One is that patients need to understand the unique biology of their tumor, the unique fingerprint of their tumor, and that there’s molecular profile testing available right now in order to determine that unique fingerprint.
The other important aspect of the biology of their tumor is their biology, their genetic information. Are they predisposed to cancer? Is there going to be a high probability of getting cancer again in their lifetime? So that first bubble, if you will, is the biology of their tumor. The second one is the anatomy. We need to understand the location of their cancer and the size of the cancer relative to their breast size. And there are tests that are better than mammograms. Sometimes it could be an ultrasound, it could be MRI, molecular breast imaging, contrast enhanced mammography. There’s a lot of testing out there that can supplement mammography to help devise an anatomic plan for treating their cancer.”
Dr. Barry Rosen is a breast surgical oncologist in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where he has been in practice for over 25 years. Simultaneously, he has worked as Chief Medical Officer for hospitals and industry and is currently a medical director at Aptitude Health.

He has been on the faculty for prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS), the School of Oncoplastic Surgery, and the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
