I mean, we continue to innovate. We continue to improve. I think what we’re all looking for is prevention ultimately. And we’re not there yet. But if we can do better screening, we can catch breast cancers earlier. And what I’m most excited about is CT DNA, circulating tumor DNA testing and testing such as that.
As we’ve spoken about, that’s a wonderful way to do surveillance, systemic surveillance. We’re on the cusp of being able to screen for breast with a blood test Yeah. I believe within the next 10 years, we will have commercially available blood tests that can screen for breast cancer, much like we now have for other cancers.”
Dr. Rosen discusses how precision medicine is all about designing, prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment plans around the patient. It’s another way of saying patient centered care. Applying universal rules to a heterogeneous group of people just doesn’t make sense. one size never fits all. He discusses how you can personalize your screening based upon your risk. And the important message is KNOW YOUR RISK. We have risk calculators for breast cancer that we don’t have for other cancers. And that way we can create a precision screening strategy for the patient.
Dr. Barry Rosen is a breast surgical oncologist in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where he has been in practice for over 25 years. Simultaneously, he has worked as Chief Medical Officer for hospitals and industry and is currently a medical director at Aptitude Health.
Company Information:
Cynthia Jordan, Founder of Learn Look Locate LLC in 2018 has generated a global movement to provide critical education for the early detection of breast cancer. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age. Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends.
The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings. Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys.
There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds. Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible.
There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need.
Learn Look Locate LLC provides resources for women who want to get involved in the fight against breast cancer.
