Imerman Angels is one of Cynthia Jordan’s most favorite organizations. And one of the reasons why Cynthia started Learn Look Locate, was because she would not have made it through her breast cancer journey without Imerman Angels. They’re a one-to-one cancer support program and mentor program that’s free and international to anyone in the world who is looking to get support during a difficult time. This is for caregivers, survivors, and previvors (those just starting their journey).
Johnny Imerman was 26 years old when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He was on the precipice of his adult life figuring out who he was and who he wanted to be and what was ahead and then cancer out of nowhere. And he always liked to talk about the first chemo session. He is surrounded by family and friends. The chemo infusion room he was in was so overrun with people that the nurses had to keep coming in to say, “Be quiet, you know, you have to keep it down. There are other people in here.”
Johnny talks about how much support he had coming at him. But how he never felt more isolated, or alone, even though he was in this crowded room of love. He said no one in that room understood what it was like to be a young adult cancer survivor. They didn’t know what it was like, you know, consider surgery where you lose your testicle. They didn’t know what it was like to have chemo, what it was going to be like to lose your hair, what kind of things you were going to eat, he had no one to turn to, to ask these questions to be scared to be sort of authentically nervous and anxious about what was ahead with this cancer journey.

Cynthia Jordan, Founder of Learn Look Locate LLC in 2018 has generated a global movement to provide critical education for the early detection of breast cancer. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age.
Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends. The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings.
Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys. There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds.
Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible. There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need.
