So we’re all here. We’ve been through this. It’s actually an incredible community of people. So many people have been touched by breast cancer that it really is pretty remarkable. So the first part is that you will find people who’ve been through a similar journey who can help support you so you don’t feel alone.
I think the next thing is trying to find someone in your life more ideally more than one someone who can be there with you. Go to appointments, take in the information. It is incredibly overwhelming. It’s very hard to keep all of it in. Once you hear the word cancer, you know, everything else kind of goes black. And so having someone, if possible, who can be there with you to kind of take notes, keep check in, go over your treatment over your treatment plan with you is really, you know, really priceless in so many ways.”
Dr. Peled is a practicing breast cancer and plastic surgeon based in San Francisco. She is board-certified in plastic surgery and has fellowship training in breast surgical oncology, making her uniquely able to offer both breast oncologic and reconstructive surgical care. She is the co-director of the Breast Care Center of Excellence at Sutter Health California Pacific Medical Center. She has an extensive research experience focused on improving outcomes after breast cancer surgery and breast reconstruction and is currently involved in research looking at novel approaches to optimize patient satisfaction and quality-of-life after breast surgery.
Dr. Peled has a passion for educating patients and health care professionals about oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction options, regularly teaching at courses across the U.S. to increase awareness around these approaches. She is a breast cancer survivor herself and shares her story to inspire others to advocate for themselves to achieve their best health outcomes.
We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends.
The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings. Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys.
There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds. Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible.
There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need.
