Biography
Dr. Karishma Kirti is an internationally trained Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist based in Mumbai, India, with extensive expertise in breast cancer surgery, oncoplastic breast reconstruction, breast conservation techniques, and benign breast disease management. She currently serves as Assistant Professor and Breast Consultant in the Department of Surgical Oncology at D.Y. Patil Hospital, Navi Mumbai, and is also a Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai.
With advanced fellowship training from leading institutions across India, Europe, and the United Kingdom, Dr. Kirti has established herself as a respected voice in modern breast cancer care. She earned her Master of Surgery in Principles of Breast Oncoplasty with Distinction Honors from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom, and completed a prestigious Visiting Fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at L’Institut du Sein in Paris under renowned breast surgeon Dr. Krishna B. Clough. She also holds the ESSO Fellowship of the European Board of Surgery in Breast Surgery with Merit Honors and completed her Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
Dr. Kirti is widely recognized for her patient-centered approach, combining oncologic safety with cosmetic and functional outcomes to help women navigate breast cancer treatment with confidence and dignity. Her clinical interests include breast conservation surgery, oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, management of benign breast disorders, hereditary breast cancer, and multidisciplinary breast cancer care.
Over the years, she has received numerous national recognitions and awards for her contributions to oncology and women’s healthcare, including the Trailblazing Indian Oncocare Leaders Award at the Economic Times OncoFrontiers Summit, the Best Emerging Oncologist Award presented by the Governor of Maharashtra, and the Women Icons of India Award in Healthcare.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Kirti is deeply involved in academic research, surgical education, and international collaboration. She serves as a reviewer for the European Journal of Surgical Oncology and the Indian Journal of Surgery and has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, international research collaborations, textbook chapters, and conference presentations focused on breast oncology and oncoplastic surgery.
Dr. Kirti is an active member of several leading professional organizations, including the Association of Breast Surgeons of India (ABSI), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), European Breast Cancer Research Association of Surgical Trialists (EUBREAST), and Breast Global, where she serves on the Youth Committee.
Known for her compassionate communication style and commitment to advancing breast cancer awareness, Dr. Karishma Kirti continues to play an important role in shaping the future of breast oncology care in India and internationally.
